FAQs
Q: Who is Girls' Rock Camp-ATH for? A: Camp is open to ALL girls from ages 9 to 15 years. Q: What level of musical experience do the girls need to participate? A: ANY! Beginners are very, very welcome. We plan to offer guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and vocal instruction. Q: When and where will the camp take place? A: 2009 Girls' Rock Camp-ATHENS will take place Monday, July 26th through Friday, July 30th, 2010, from 9:00am to 5:30pm, and on Saturday, July 31st, times to be announced. The final concert will be on Saturday, 31st at a location TBA. Camp will be held at PigPen Studios located at 159 Oneta Street Athens, Georgia 30601.(Please do not contact Pigpen with camp requests.) Q: What is the cost? A: Cost is $300 per camper. And you are welcome to pay more if you can to help another camper attend. We will be offering a limited number of scholarships. Another good idea is to have businesses sponsor a camper. Q: How do I apply for a scholarship? A: Girls' Rock Camp-ATHENS is able to offer a limited number of scholarship opportunities. Please e-mail executivedirector@girlsrockathens.org or call 706.498.2507 for more information. Scholarships will be awarded based on availability, need, and passion. They will not be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Q: Do the girls need to apply or are you accepting anyone who wants to attend? A: We will be accepting campers on a first come basis. We will have room for 30 campers. So, while there is no application or audition process, registration will close once all the slots have been filled. Q: Do campers need to have/bring their own instruments? A: We encourage campers to have/bring their own guitars, basses, and keyboards but we realize that for many campers this will be their first experience playing these instruments. Therefore it is our aim to create a no-cost instrument loan program for the week. A number of drum kits and amplifiers will be on site.
